Discover the breathtaking landscapes and cultural treasures of northern Thailand on this 4-day, 3-night journey from Chiang Mai through Pai and Mae Hong Son. Begin your journey with a scenic drive to Pai, stopping at the local Mae Malai Market, the relaxing Pong Deuid Hot Springs,and the historic Pai Memorial Bridge. Explore the charming town of Pai and, weather permitting, enjoy panoramic views from Pai Canyon before experiencing the lively atmosphere of Pai Walking Street.
Continue to Mae Hong Son, visiting the traditional Ban Jabo Lahu Village and exploring the fascinating Tham Lod Cave by bamboo raft. Discover Mae Hong Son’s cultural heritage around Jong Kham Lake, including Wat Chong Kham, Wat Chong Klang, and Wat Phra That Doi Kong Mu, offering beautiful views over the surrounding mountains.
The adventure continues with a scenic boat trip along the Pai River and a visit to a traditional Long-Necked Karen village. Discover the impressive
Su Tong Pae Bamboo Bridge, followed by visits to Baan Rak Thai and Baan Ruam Thai (Pang Oung), renowned for their peaceful mountain landscapes, lakes, pine forests, and cool climate.
On the final day, travel through the spectacular scenery of Doi Inthanon National Park, Thailand’s highest mountain. Visit the magnificent Royal Pagodas, explore the surrounding flower gardens and hill-tribe markets, and admire the stunning Vachiratharn Waterfall before returning to Chiang Mai.
This itinerary offers an exceptional combination of nature, adventure, mountain scenery, local cultures, traditional villages, history, temples, caves, waterfalls, and authentic northern Thai experiences, making it ideal for travelers seeking to explore beyond Thailand’s main tourist destinations.
Upon arrival, have your free time for leisure or wander around the city to admire the tranquil atmosphere in its surroundings. Stay overnight in Chiang Rai.
Morning after breakfast, we will visit the local market to discover the local products. After that we visit the world-famous Wat Phra Kaew where the Emerald Buddha image was once enshrined. Move on to Wat Phra Singh where one of Thailand’s most beautiful Buddha images is now enshrined. Then a short drive from Chiang Rai City to Black House. Baan Dam (Black House) is the unique creation of national artist, Thawan Duchanee. Part art studio, part museum, part home, Baan Dam is an eclectic mix of traditional northern Thai buildings interspersed with some outlandish modern designs. Lunch on your own account and in the afternoon we will take our boat cruise on Mae Kok river from Chiang Rai to Karen village. Transfer back to Chiang Rai.
After breakfast, drive to visit Chiang Saen, the ancient city located on the Khong Riverbank. After that, visit the House of Opium Museum which shows about the opium’s history in the past in Thailand. Have lunch by your own account at the local restaurant on the Golden triangle. Taking a boat trip along the Mekong Kong River to see Thailand, Burma & Laos meet at the Golden Triangle before transferring back to Chiang Rai for your flight to next destinations.
