Experience the diverse cultural, historical, and natural highlights of Thailand on this. 5-day, 4-night journey through Bangkok, Kanchanaburi, and Ayutthaya. This itinerary combines Bangkok’s royal heritage and riverside culture with traditional markets, World War II history, scenic railway experiences, and the ancient treasures of Ayutthaya.
Begin your journey in Bangkok with a scenic long-tail boat excursion along the Chao Phraya River and its historic canals, followed by visits to the Grand Royal Palace, Wat Phra Kaew, Wat Pho, and the fascinating Jim Thompson House.
Continue beyond Bangkok to discover the famous Maeklong Railway Market and Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, before traveling to Kanchanaburi. Explore important World War II landmarks, including the JEATH War Museum and Cemetery, experience a scenic train ride along the historic Death Railway, and visit the iconic Bridge over the River Kwai.
The journey then continues to Ayutthaya, the former capital of the Kingdom of Siam and a UNESCO World Heritage destination. Discover its impressive ancient temples and ruins, including Wat Phu Khao Thong, Wat Phra Si Sanphet, Viharn Phra Mongkol Bopit, and Wat Lokaya Sutha, before visiting the elegant Bang Pa-In Summer Palace on the way back to Bangkok.
With a rich combination of culture, history, temples, traditional markets, scenic landscapes, and authentic local experiences, this itinerary offers a comprehensive introduction to Bangkok and some of Thailand’s most fascinating surrounding destinations.
Upon arrival, have your free time for leisure or wander around the city to admire the tranquil atmosphere in its surroundings. Stay overnight in Chiang Rai.
Morning after breakfast, we will visit the local market to discover the local products. After that we visit the world-famous Wat Phra Kaew where the Emerald Buddha image was once enshrined. Move on to Wat Phra Singh where one of Thailand’s most beautiful Buddha images is now enshrined. Then a short drive from Chiang Rai City to Black House. Baan Dam (Black House) is the unique creation of national artist, Thawan Duchanee. Part art studio, part museum, part home, Baan Dam is an eclectic mix of traditional northern Thai buildings interspersed with some outlandish modern designs. Lunch on your own account and in the afternoon we will take our boat cruise on Mae Kok river from Chiang Rai to Karen village. Transfer back to Chiang Rai.
After breakfast, drive to visit Chiang Saen, the ancient city located on the Khong Riverbank. After that, visit the House of Opium Museum which shows about the opium’s history in the past in Thailand. Have lunch by your own account at the local restaurant on the Golden triangle. Taking a boat trip along the Mekong Kong River to see Thailand, Burma & Laos meet at the Golden Triangle before transferring back to Chiang Rai for your flight to next destinations.
